Lunch at Hillebrand Winery and a Jaunt Deal in Niagara Falls

Last weekend, we exercised the $85 deal that I got from Jaunt.ca for a night's stay at the Ramada Inn in Niagara Falls along with a $40 coupon at Outback, a $20 coupon at T.G.I.F. and a $20 coupon at Dave & Busters.  Knowing that we would be eating at Outback that night, we decided that we should go for a nice meal at Hillebrand Winery during lunch time so that at least we'll enjoy a little bit of good food in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The set price for a 3 course meal was $35.  We decided not to go with the wine pairing since we'd have to drive later, so we just ordered by the glass.  We were first served with some bread with red wine butter and sea salt.
For appetizers, we got the Marc's Foraged Wild and Tame Mushrooms and the Pan Seared Scallop.  I enjoyed the mushrooms a lot and the scallop was good too, but it seemed like they skimmed out a bit and just cut the scallop in half instead of maybe giving us two scallops.

For mains, we both went for the Hillebrand Trius Rib Eye Burger.  I thought 2hung would get the lamb shank or pork chop, but he decided to get the same thing as me.  The burger was pretty juicy and it was super filling even though it looks small.
For dessert, we got the Bartlett Pear Almondine and the cheese plate.  Of course this is when we discovered that the three course meal was too much!  We would've been fine with a two course meal.  I think the food overall was pretty tasty, but the service at Peller Estates was much better when we went last year.

The rest of our trip was quite enjoyable as well.  We spent the day shopping at the outlet mall in Buffalo.  We didn't buy much but didn't get taxed either when crossing the border so that was good.  Ramada Inn was a crappy hotel, but I guess you can't expect much for $85 a night.  I wish we didn't have to have dinner at Outback though.  Their quality has really deteriorated.  No wonder all of their restaurants have closed down in Toronto.  We won't be going back to either Ramada or Outback as long as we can avoid it!
